not as useful as I'd hoped

I love to use my card scraper, but hate to sharpen it, same as everyone else. I learned how to turn a burr the hard way-on my own, so it is possible that I just don't know how to properly use this item. that being said, I learned sharpening using the smooth shaft of a screwdriver, only I found the applying enough downward pressure to pull the burr tired my hands and I had always hoped that a dedicated tool would provide better control. I find that when I hold the handle of this tool to provide a comfortable grip, the length of the shaft gets in the way of the hand holding the card scraper and I tend to grab the shaft further towards the end to eliminate this. this means that I am not only not making use of the handle, but that I am having more difficulty using the tool than I did with my screwdriver. needless to say, the screwdriver has become the go-to tool again as I just have better results with it. there are short-shaft burnishers on the market that would work better for my style of sharpening, but a wise woodworker once said "there will always be specialty tools on the market as long as there are buyers for them".

    Good product

The burnisher does its job. Used it to draw out the scrapers steel and to turn the bur. First one i owned but would by it again.

    Does the Job Well

I thought I could just use a large screwdriver shaft to tune up the scraper edge - wrong. The screwdriver shaft is not hard enough to do the job. I eventually purchased this burnisher and now find it easy to create the hook on my scraper card.

    a great tool

This burnisher fits the hand nicely, so it is easy to use. It brings such a nice edge onto a scraper that I have been using it on knives and chisels, too. The little plastic case it came in probably won't last more than a month or two, but I keep this in a bag with other tools, so that doesn't matter too much.

    English made good quality

Use on all shapes of cabinet scrapers to remove the burr when sharpening. Well made and the right size.

    Great

The main reason I like this burnisher is that it is long. You can easily hold it in both hands. This allows you to get good leverage when setting a hook on thick scrapers.
