Get a threaded insert
This kit is a beginner level project. I had no directions. I added a m6 x 15mm threaded insert so handle could be removed for washing. This threaded insert should really be included in the kit. I am happy with my end result.

Mug is great, instructions are bad.
I{ will start by saying the quality and finish of the mug is awesome. It is however lacking in weight and the instructions however appear to have been an afterthought. They ask you to drill a 6mm hole for the screw post. The fit is like throwing a hot dog in a hallway.... way to large. At 6mm, there is no engagement from the screw post with the wood. After some testing, I found the correct size to be ~13/64. Also, I wish the mug had a more substantial weight to it. All in all the kit makes a unique gift. I made 4 this year as gifts for Christmas.
