I've used these on several beds, and although the do require some work to install properly, once they're right you'll have an absolutely rock-solid bed frame. Agree with the comment(s) about the mortise being much too close to one of the holes. And be aware that the 'female' piece has a definite up/down orientation. Try it both directions and you can see a tiny difference in the fit. May not be enough to cause trouble, but speaks to manufacturing quality in my opinion.
Awesome product for most people.
Awesome product for those who know what they are doing in a woodshop!!!
Solid, essential hardware
Solid piece of bed hardware - no variation in size from one unit to the next. Snug, competent fit. I feel confident using these on the beds I make.
Bed Rail Hardware
Used these as a connection mechanism for a product display backdrop. Perfect for anytime you need to make a flat connection between two heavy objects.
This bed rail hardware is just as described. There is enough in one order to complete one bed. The price is very good for what you get. They are simple to install if you have the right tools and ability.
How to install the hardware.
A quick video about installing the hardware.
I will be buying more of these fasteners
Was easy to install, perfect fit. Will be ordering more for future projects.
Bed Rail Fastener
I have used this 3 or 4 times and it gets easier each time. The most difficult part is mortising into the end of the bed rails but once I figured that out, it is great.
The problem is how much wood has to be removed from within 1/8" of 2 screw holes in order for there to be enough clearance to allow the hooks to bottom out properly. You can see in the photograph in the catalog that the bottom part of the (right hand in the picture) hooks come VERY close to the screw holes in both the brackets. Shame, as the fitting was very straightforward.
This worked great in the bed we made!!
I made a bed for a family member and the bed rail worked out fine.
good solid product
Built a coustom bed frame, used product on bed rails for ease of assembly and disassembly. Product is heavy and solid .Product is moderatly difficult to install, but with moderate carpentry skills paired with sharp tools instalation went smooth. One thing I sould mention is the screw holes need to be countersunk deeper to accept a #8 screw, otherwise screw heads seem to interfer with brackets to pull tight.
These were used to replace ones that had been bent by the movers on our bed. The recommendation of the better grade of screws was excellent also. Thanks.
heavy duty bed rails
I like how they are not visible after the bed is assembled.
Great wall mount for a heavy object!
We had a handcrafted window treatment that didn't fit the usual hardware applications. A myrtlewood board with our smaller mule deer racks displayed, to go in our home office. At a weight of about 15 pounds, we didn't want it pulling off the wall.... We hit on the idea of using your Bed Rail Fasteners, with the hook side upside-down on the window frame, attached into the studs with 3" screws. The other side was screwed to a routed out 1x3 and then attached to the back of the board. Because of the tight tolerances, we had to measure carefully and did need to readjust one end for it to fit. But it's up there solidly, and we are very happy with it! Great product for an unusual application.
This is a great bed rail fastener, a little hard to mortis into the rail for the amatuer but very solid and should work well.
I would have preferred a brass finished option as well even though it isn't visible when assembled
Recess for screw heads not deep enough.
I was able to drill a deeper reces on the female fasterner holes. Could not drill out the middle screw hole on the male fastener. The protruding screw head on the male fastener stopped the assembly from closing properly. I used #8 flat head wood screws.
What it should be
It Works and fits right
Good solid product
You can't do without this fastener for building a bed.
These do need to be mortised in and takes some time, particularly on the ends of the rails, but they are great. Woodcraft was also easy to work with [...]
Just what I was looking for!
Mak a template and mortise with a router for the best fit and finish.
I will buy this product again.
I had been using a connector that screwed on the side of the bed rail, but they proved too flimsey.
Strong and invisible
This hardward connects the bed rails to the head board and foot board and remains hidden. No ugly metal hardware to detract from the beauty of the wooden rails.
Easy to use, simple, works great
Perfect for building bed rails
Exactly what the doctor ordered
Wonderful heavy gauge steel, concealed installation and tool-free final furniture assembly make this a superior product for bed construction.
This is the second set I bought.
bed rail fasteners
Not easy to install and did not come with any instruction. Will not buy again. I am now look for some other type of fastnews to replace them with.
Was looking everywhere and found it here
