This is a class favorite! Chairs are supposed to be difficult to make right? Let Ray guide you through the process and see just how simple it can be. From the angled joints used to attach the legs and aprons to the shaping of the chair back frame, splat, and cabriole legs, the students will lose their apprehension of applying odd shaped elements to their future projects. The most common comment from students leaving this class is “That wasn’t as hard as I expected!” You will be amazed at how few hand tools are needed to create this great museum piece!

Flat, Square & Straight (with powertools)

Thursday, August 7, 6 PM - 9 PM

In order to get clean, tight-fitting joints in your woodworking projects, you must be able to accurately flatten, square, and true-up your boards before you even begin the joinery. In this class, you'll learn how the Jointer, Planer, and Tablesaw work together to help you accomplish this fundamental, but necessary task.

Beginning Woodworking

New to the shop environment? Not comfortable around machinery? Spend a day getting to know your way around with one of our experienced instructors. Students will learn the purpose and safe operations of the primary stationary tools such as the tablesaw, jointer, planer, bandsaw and drill press. This hands on class will give you a taste of how these tools take raw material and turn it into finished projects. To the beginner woodworker, this class will pave the way for participation in Woodworking Fundamentals 1.
