The table saw is the centerpiece of any woodworking shop. However, many people are not getting the best performance from this critical machine. We will cover such topics as safe operations, proper blade selection, how to check it during use, and tricks and tips to make sure it continues to perform as you want it to. Hands on work will include basic rip cuts and cross cuts.
What a perfect gift - a bowl that you make yourself and fill with snacks. We will show you how to shape and turn a lovely bowl. Learn the dynamics of wood shrinkage; the parts, proper use, differences, advantages and disadvantages of the fingernail versus regular grind bowl gouge; methods of mounting material to the lathe, safety issues, turning speed, and the safe use of a bowl gouge. What was originally two classes is now one. This class is an information filled journey through finishing. The morning of the class will be a lecture covering safety, the science of wood and finishes, and the differences between finishes. The afternoon will be hands-on, so be prepared to get a little messy. You’ll be learning proper sanding techniques, how to strip old finishes, applying different finishes and finally, spray techniques.
