Woodturning: Bowl And Mallet

In this hands-on class, you will learn both of the main skills in woodturning; face plate turning and how to create all of the basic spindle shapes and cuts. Students will turn a small bowl and a wooden mallet. This is the perfect class for the beginning turner, or a great way to hone your turning skills. Each student is responsible for supplying their own roughing gouge, bowl gouge, spindle gouge, skew, parting tool, face shield and dust mask. Woodturning: Pen Turning

Students will learn the proper steps needed to turn a unique pen, from cutting and turning to finishing and final assembly. Each student will turn a pen to take home. They make great gifts so sign up today! Tools provided by the instructor include a sharp 1/2in spindle gouge and a sharp 3/16in parting tool. You may bring your own if you desire. Each student is responsible for supplying their own safety glasses and hearing protection.

Hand Cut Dovetails - Course 1

The topic of this hands-on class is the most fundamental of all woodworking joints: The "Through Dovetail". Students will learn the basics of dovetail layout as well as basic saw and chisel control as we practice cutting many dovetails. Safety and tool selection will be discussed. A handout is provided detailing all of the steps covered in the class as well as some suggested practical exercises to complete as "next steps" to guide your practice. Each student is responsible for supplying their own dovetail saw (western or Japanese), sharp 1/2in and 1/4in chisels, mallet, marking knife, dovetail marker, pencil, marking gauge, fret saw or coping saw, eye protection, pocket knife and a pair of dividers.
