NEW! Intro To Relief Wood Carving

with Kevin Ewing

Saturday, September 20, 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM

Curious about wood carving? This relaxed, hands-on class is for you! You'll get an 8"x10" basswood block and all the tools needed to learn the basics of relief carving. With step-by-step guidance from the instructor, you’ll practice making cuts on the back of your board and then carve your very own piece on the front. Bring a sketch to carve or choose from options available in class. Kevin’s approachable style and years of experience make it easy to learn and fun! Inlays Part 3: Using Epoxy

with Craig Gilbert

Part 1: Tuesday, September 23, 6 PM - 9 PM

Part 2: Wednesday, September 24, 6 PM - 9 PM

If your inlay pattern includes complicated or irregular shapes, epoxy can simplify the process and give a unique finished look. In this two-evening class, you'll use a router to cut the void and then choose a color, mix the epoxy and fill the void. The epoxy needs time to cure so during the second evening, you'll plane, sand and finish the board. At the end, you'll be ready to make more challenging shapes and patterns for future projects. Note: A $20 materials fee (cash or Square) will be collected by the instructor at the beginning of class.
