Are you interested in woodworking? This one-day, hands-on class is perfect for beginners who want to explore the art and skill of woodworking. Learn how to safely use power tools like the planer, bandsaw, table saw, miter saw, and drill press. You’ll put your new skills into practice by building a beautiful keepsake box! Build confidence and gain foundational knowledge to tackle woodworking projects independently in the future. Note: $20 materials fee (cash or Venmo) is payable to the instructor at the start of the class.

This class welcomes both novice and experienced scrollers, with groups split by skill level. Beginners will learn techniques for cutting lines and corners, plus stack cutting to complete up to five take-home projects. Advanced scrollers can choose from more complex designs and receive personalized guidance in areas like intarsia, fretwork, and puzzles. Instructors, Steve Harder and Troy Buchan of the North Star Scrollers of Bloomington, will provide scroll saws and materials for all participants.

Electric Guitar Design

The focus of this class is to design and draw a 1:1 scale electric guitar plan. Using a Fender Telecaster as a point of reference, we will discuss basic terminology of an electric guitar's parts as well as principles inherent to the function and structure of a guitar. Designing the instrument will include choosing wood, headstock shape, type of neck to body joint, hardware and electronics. While the shape of the electric guitar's body seems like a free-for-all, many considerations come into play. Join us and other electric guitar enthusiasts as we ponder, discuss, and put these ideas on paper.
