Intro To The Woodshop

Part 1: Saturday, August 23, 9:30 AM - 5:30 PM

Part 2: Sunday, August 24, 10 AM - 4 PM

Are you new to woodworking? Want to brush up on basic skills? The instructor will teach how to safely use the essential power tools in any woodshop. Students will learn how to set up cuts and operate a table saw, planer, jointer, band saw, miter saw, and drill press. These skills will be put into practice to create a charcuterie board which can proudly be shown off to family and friends. On day two go beyond the basics and create a beautiful slide top keepsake box! You will practice skills learned in order to gain confidence using essential power tools. Use this foundation to accomplish your woodworking project goals. Note: A $20 materials fee (cash or check) will be collected by the instructor at the beginning of class.

Electric Guitar Design

Tuesday, August 26, 6 PM - 9 PM

The focus of this class is to design and draw a 1:1 scale electric guitar plan. Using a Fender Telecaster as a point of reference, we will discuss basic terminology of an electric guitar's parts as well as principles inherent to the function and structure of a guitar. Designing the instrument will include choosing wood, headstock shape, type of neck to body joint, hardware and electronics. While the shape of the electric guitar's body seems like a free-for-all, many considerations come into play. Join us and other electric guitar enthusiasts as we ponder, discuss, and put these ideas on paper.

Bowl Turning with Carbide Tools

Wednesday, September 3, 6 PM - 9 PM

Are you interested in taking a fun and creative woodworking class? If so, this class is for you! It’s the perfect make-and-take bowl turning class for beginners (no experience needed). In this class, you can focus solely on the creative process of bowl turning. We use carbide tools, which are amazingly durable and stay sharp much longer than traditional turning tools. We also explore the range of carbide tools available and how to use them, and we provide basic lathe techniques to help you turn the perfect bowl. Note: A $20 materials fee (cash or Venmo) is payable to the instructor at the class
