Enjoy several hours of bowl turning. Learn to select and use readily available wood for bowl blanks, and how to take a log to a finished bowl. Mounting methods, surface preparation, sanding and finishing methods are covered. Each student will take home a finished bowl. One hour break for lunch (not provided). Safety Glasses & Face Shield, Calipers, 3/8" Fingernail Bowl Gouge & Parting Tool Required.
Learn how to use the basic turning tools and how to keep them sharp. You will learn general lathe use, safety, correct turning speeds, how to mount wood, and when and how to make different types of cuts. Required tools: Face Shield, 1/2" Skew, 1/2" Spindle Gouge, Parting Tool, Roughing Gouge. One hour break for lunch (not provided). Safety Glasses & Face Shield, Calipers,3/8" Fingernail Bowl Gouge & Parting Tool Required.
This class will teach you how to safely set up and operate a scroll saw. Learn how to cut tight radius curves and intricate fretwork without chipout and with minimal sanding. Blade tensioning and selection will also be covered. Hands-on projects will be made in class.
