Hand Cut Dovetails

Dovetails can improve the strength and appearance of your work. Your instructor will demonstrate the process of tool selection, joint layout, sawing, chiseling, and fitting. Then the instructor will help you use our tools to practice that process. The focus is on skill-building rather than making a finished product, so students can refine their technique through repetition and feedback. Dovetails cut in the class you can bring home with you. With this class and practice you will be able to use dovetails in your projects.

Scroll Saw: Compound Cutting CHESS Pieces

Saturday, April 11, 2026, 1 PM - 4 PM

Let Tim Gilman, with more than a decade of scroll saw experience designing patterns, writing articles & reviews for Scroll Saw Woodworking & Crafts Magazine (www.scrollsawer.com), help you learn compound cutting while having fun making some chess pieces! The class will begin with a demonstration of attaching patterns, selecting blades, making compound cuts with on the scroll saw & smoothing your cuts with a sanding star. Then Tim will help you practice attaching patterns & cutting out some chess pieces you can take home. While there will only be class time to cut out several chess pieces, you will leave with an understanding of the process. Plus you will get to keep the book of scroll saw chess set patterns that was used in the class! With these patterns, the knowledge & practice gained from this class you'll be able to make your own chess set at home! Also consider taking the "Making a Chess Board" class that is typically offered a few weeks before this class! If you have limited scroll saw experience, consider taking "Scroll Saw Intro 101".

Epoxy River Table (2 Part Class)

Part 1: Sunday, April 12, 2026, 1 PM - 5 PM

Part 2: Sunday, April 19, 2026, 12 PM - 5 PM

This is a 2 part class, All students attend both dates. Tuition includes the 1st & 2nd date. In this class students will be introduced to the process of making an epoxy river table, including mold construction, slab preparation, and epoxy pouring. Several different epoxy options will be discussed, along with dye and dust coloring. In part one, students will build the mold, cut and treat the slab, and pour the river. In part two, students will be instructed on how to prepare their river table for an epoxy top coat using several power tools such as the table saw, jointer, various sanders, and router table. After preparing, the top coat will be poured and projects would be ready for pickup in about a day.
