Basic Woodworking

HANDS-ON. OUR MOST POPULAR CLASS!! ADULTS ONLY - NO YOUTH - 18 YEARS AND OLDER. This foundation course introduces you to the wonderful world of woodworking. You will learn how to set alignment and use the chop saw, table saw, jointer, planner, band saw, router table and a stationary sander. Safety will be emphasized with each machine. Each student will complete a hands-on project using basic joinery techniques. Types of wood and finishing techniques will also be discussed. Build An End-Grain Cutting Board

Part 1: Monday, May 19, 6 PM - 10 PM

Part 2: Tuesday, May 20, 6 PM - 10 PM

Part 3: Wednesday, May 21, 6 PM - 10 PM

HANDS-ON. We have a GREAT KITCHEN CLASS from Doug Jones. Students will build, over the three nights, an End-Grain style Cutting Board from two contrasting types of wood. This 12" X 18" Cutting Board will be constructed from "End-Grain", not the Long-Grain of the boards. This traditional method of building a Cutting Board makes it VERY DURABLE. It will takes cuts from a knife and not show any damage for many years to come. Doug is a great woodworker and his hands-on approach to teaching will help you learn all the tricks for End-Grain cutting and glue-up. Glass Panel Doors

Part 1: Thursday, May 22, 6 PM - 10 PM

HANDS-ON. This is the perfect sister class to our popular Raised Panel Door class and Cabinet class. Students will learn all the ins-and-outs to make Glass Panel Doors on the router table. Don't under estimate the simple look of a glass door...there are a lot of details in making one but, CMT offers the wonderful Sommerfeld Glass Door router bit set that will have you making cuts that fit perfectly. Standard and Divided Light designs will be shown and students will take home a small finished door that a piece of glass could be installed in.
