3D Cutting Board

Saturday, August 23, 9 AM - 5 PM

This is a great opportunity to make a 3D cutting board using Alex Snodgrass's method. Using only three different woods - Cherry, Maple, and Peruvian walnut - Barry will show each student how to make a stunning 3D end-grain cutting board. He will begin by teaching each student how to tune a bandsaw to make perfect cuts. Students will then progress through techniques required to build a cutting board: how to make dead-on straight cuts and accurate angled cuts on the bandsaw, and how to plane, sand, glue, and clamp the cutting board. Topics to be covered include: bandsaw myths debunked, bandsaw mechanics, correct blade tension, accurate angle cuts, gluing techniques, end-grain pattern alignment, food-safe finishes, and care and maintenance of cutting boards. By the end of the day, each student will have a fantastic 3D cutting board made with their own hands! This class is designed for woodworkers of all skill levels. From the beginner to the advanced woodworker, every student will leave the class with a 3d cutting board and a smile on their faces! Register today - there is limited enrollment!

The Art of Shaker Oval Box Making: Raleigh Lockhart has been a skilled Shaker Box Maker for many years, and we are excited to be offering a class. Raleigh will begin the class by sharing the rich history and class overview of Shaker Oval Box Making. This will include History for Shaker Box Makers, Shop Safety, Tools used for the class and wood selection. We will then build three classic Shaker Bentwood Keepsakes - this is a great opportunity to learn this lost Art of Shaker Oval Box Making so you too can become a Shaker Box Maker!

Pen Making Basics: Fountain Pen

Fountain pens are highly-desired classic and elegant writing instruments, both for yourself or for a thoughtful and unique gift. Fountain pens are also very sellable handmade works. In this class, we will teach you how to turn and construct a beautiful fountain pen. This class is an excellent way to get into the art of turning with hands-on lathe experience. Each student will turn and construct a complete fountain pen to take home. All materials are included. Consider making a distinctive fountain pen gift for your graduate, for a unique promotion or retirement gift, or other meaningful milestone which calls for a special celebration!
