Woodworking Fundamentals III

Part 1: Saturday, August 23, 9 AM - 5 PM

Part 2: Sunday, August 24, 9 AM - 5 PM

In the final part of our Woodworking Fundamentals series, students will spend two days designing and making a bookcase project out of plywood and hardwood. New topics covered during this session include designing casework, processing sheet goods, cutting curves, laying out and creating joinery for casework, and routing and applying millwork. Students will leave with a beautiful maple bookcase and a greater confidence to apply their skills to future woodworking projects.

Shaker Step Stool

Part 1: Thursday, August 28, 10 AM - 4 PM

Part 2: Friday, August 29, 10 AM - 4 PM

Take this class to learn how to use modern tools and techniques to make a timeless Shaker Step Stool! With its simple lines, exposed joinery, and functional arch, this stool stays true to the Shaker design of a "two-stepper" and will make a beautiful - and useful - addition to any home. The class begins with students picking out their lumber from our wood shed, and ends with applying an oil or wax finish (as time allows). During the class students can expect to get hands-on practice with the jointer, planer, table saw, handheld router, dovetail jig, bandsaw, router table, and domino joiner. OPTIONAL UPGRADE: The tuition covers the cost of Ash, Cherry, or Maple lumber, but students can pay an additional $50 to make their stools out of Walnut. Advanced Ornament Turning: Holiday Bells

Thursday, August 28, 6 PM - 9 PM

In this 2nd part of the Holiday Ornament Series, students will expand their skills as they craft Christmas Holiday Bells and the “new for 2025” Christmas Snowman Bell. Students will take the basic turning skills from Holiday Ornaments Part 1 and add the new skill of “hollowing” as they turn “bell” style ornaments… Come and join the fun!
