Students will learn how to: • Properly use different types of power sanders to achieve smooth, consistent surfaces • Clean between grit changes to prevent scratches and cross-contamination • Understand how dust collection affects sanding efficiency and finish quality • Use raking light to detect imperfections and subtle surface flaws • Raise the grain to achieve a smoother finish • Sculpt and sand live edges • Level epoxy fills and inlays • Some hand-sanding techniques such as easing edges and sanding between finish coats Through demonstrations and hands-on guidance, students will gain confidence in selecting the right sander for the task, managing sanding workflow, and preparing wood surfaces for finishing.
