This class covers basic router operations including router types, maintenance of router bits, and the various types of router bits and accessories. Each student will have the opportunity to practice edge routing, template routing, rabbiting and dadoing with the router.

Each student will get hands on time with tools and should feel confident to start woodworking at home.
Curious about refinishing or upcycling older furniture? Then this overview class is for you. Bob will discuss current products and methods, to repair, refinish or change the appearance of your favorite piece of furniture, or that thrift store finds. We will cover stripping methods, repair of existing finishes and color-over procedures. Common finish problems and the solutions will also be covered. Using hand tools can take your woodworking to the next level, however, to use them effectively, you need to know how to sharpen them, and keep them sharp. Grinding, honing, and stropping will be covered, and when and how to apply each, to keep your tools operating at the peak of performance. By the end of the class, you will understand what sharp is and know how to achieve it in your shop. Bring a chisel or plane iron of your own, and if time permits you can start sharpening your tools.
Advance your turning skill, by learning to turn wooden bowls. This is a foundation course to turn bowls on any size lathe. Blank selection, form and turning safety will be covered. Students will leave with their own turned bowl.
This class will cover the different types of router tables and fences available. We will also cover when to use a router table versus handheld operations, as well as, the bits that only should be used in a router table. Each student will have the opportunity to practice edge routing, pattern routing, and making a simple molding on a router table.
Demonstration and discuss the techniques used to safely operate a bandsaw. We will cover tune-up setup of the bandsaw for accurate cuts. This class is a great help to someone just starting out or anyone who wants to better his/her skills using this versatile tool. Each student will make a small box using the band saw. Learn the basics of the most useful machine in your shop, the table-saw. We will cover the selection of the table-saw blades and accessories. Also, covered will be tune-up and maintenance of the table-saw. The basic safety rules will be covered and stressed. Using square stock, the instructor will demonstrate the safe way to complete the eight basic cuts, which are the basis for about 98% of table-saw operations. Each student will have an opportunity to practice the 8 basic cuts in class. Tool List: Safety glasses with side shields, dust mask, and hearing protection are mandatory. Sections are: Marking and layout tools, Chisels, Gouges & carving tools, Hand planes, Scrapers, Hand saws, Files & rasps. Be prepared to give up some of your power tools and switch over to hand tools, where you become one with wood.

Frustrated by wood finishing? Need to improve your finishing skills? In this class we will cover the basics of surface preparation, and application of sealers and topcoats. Each student will prepare sample boards, and hand apply several home workshop friendly finishes, while learning about the process of wood finishing. This class is also the pre-requisite for other classes in wood finishing.

Each participant will construct their own modular base cabinet, based on the 32 mm system. The process will include making the carcass shell, flat panel door and pull-out drawer. Skills will include edge banding, pocket hole joinery, mounting Euro hinges and drawer slides. We will also discuss using face frames, and other ways of embellishing your cabinetry, while working within the 32mm system. You will advance your skills in the table saw, track saw, miter saw, router, measuring & marking as well as pocket hole joinery.
In this follow-up course to table-saw 101, we will begin to put the eight basic cuts to work. Demonstration and practice making rabbits, lap joints, dados and tenons.
