Part 6: Sunday, March 29, 8 AM - 6 PM

Need a serious woodworking bench but lack the space? This Moravian inspired design is the perfect solution. Join Jerry to build this fun project, as he guides you through a sequence of easy steps, leading to a fully completed workbench in just 6 days. The build begins with rough-cut hardwood, directly from the sawmill. You will dimension it to final size using a compound miter saw, bandsaw, jointer, planer and table saw. You will also use a hand-held router, router table, hollow chisel mortiser, various hand tools and more. Joinery created includes large-scale mortise and tenon, dovetails, bridle, tusk-wedge, and more. This is a fully capable workbench, yet it easily breaks down to store in limited space. A single person can knock-down or assemble the bench in under 2 minutes. Once assembled, it provides a stable and solid work surface, more than adequate for any woodworking task at hand. The splayed leg design makes the bench extremely stable. The solid-maple top is 2 feet by 5 feet and nearly 2 inches thick throughout. It features a twin-screw gear-driven vise which virtually eliminates racking. The screws are spaced on 14 inch centers for working on the ends of wide stock, such as cutting dovetails. The vise features a 2-speed transmission to allow rapid movement, saving valuable shop time when working with thicker workpieces. There are also 2 vise upgrades available: a fast-action speed handle, and a swivel mount to allow firm clamping of angled stock. Either or both upgrades can be easily added at a later time. This bench will serve you well for many years. $1300 Materials fee payable to the instructor, additional upgrades and future tariffs may increase this fee.
