In this class you will learn how to make and incorporate feature rings into your segmented turning. Students will make one full ring to use in a turning.
In this class you will learn how to cut the dovetail joint by hand using only a handsaw and a chisel. OK, a saw, chisel, and a marking gauge. Alright, saw, chisel, marking gauge, and a pencil, but that's it. OK, OK, yes, there may be a small thing to mark an angle - and some tape. No power tools though, honest. All materials and tools provided, or you can bring your own tools if you wish.
In this class instructor Jon will walk you through the process of making a small wall hanging cabinet. Solid wood edge banding, cope and stick joinery, and making trim are some of the topics you will learn.

What different types of finishes are currently on the market? What is a build finish compared to a penetrating finish? What preparation is necessary when finishing certain woods? What happens if you sand too much, or too little? How does the type of wood affect stain and finish? What should I consider when using a sanding sealer or pore filler? Why must you sand between coats on some finishes and not others? When may one type of finish be preferred over another? The class will include samples of different finishes and quick demonstrations showing the effects of different finishes on different types of wood.
Routers are one of the most useful tools in the shop. In this class we will cover everything that a router and router table can offer, along with how to safely and effectively use them.
Relief Carving is the process of cutting a design or pattern into a flat surface, creating a raised, dimensional look. This Class covers wood selection, prep, how to work with patterns, and general steps for basic relief carving, as well as basic tool use and safety.
In the raised panel door class, Jon teaches the students how to design, measure, and size the door to match the opening of the cabinet. Once that is done, students then cut out all of the parts using the miter saw, table saw, and router table. Each student will make and take home a completed raised panel door.
