Scroll Sawing is a very enjoyable woodworking hobby. It has many styles that let you make beautiful pieces within scroll sawing, fret work or intarsia. This introducion class helps you practice and learn the correct way to easily do these with an expert instructor. You will complete beginning pieces in the class to take home with you.

You'll learn about lumber, safety, power equipment use, project layout, assembly techniques, joinery and finishing approaches. All of your questions can be answered in this hands-on class, and it will be fun.

We have had great success in helping beginning bowl turners in this class. You get personal attention from our teachers on any questions that you might have. Pyrography 101

Sunday, October 5, 12:30 PM - 4:30 PM

The Intro to Pyrography, or wood burning, Brittany will teach you the intricacies of pyrography techniques. You will learn how to lay out a pattern and begin the texturing of your project. We will spend time practicing with various tips, shading techniques, and finishing suggestions. You will make a pair of coasters with either a 3" x 3" image pattern you bring with you or a pattern chosen from stock images upon arrival.

Character Carving

Part 1: Monday, October 6, 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM

Part 2: Monday, October 20, 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM

Begin your carving journey with this introduction to Character Carving. Learn the process and techniques to hone your skills to progress from a block of wood to a completed piece. This is a (2) Day (3 Hour) Class. Fee includes a Detail Knife & Safety Glove that you keep to continue enhancing your Carving Skills. Carving Knife, Safety Glove, & Wood provided. 16yrs Minimum Age.

Offset Bowl Turning

Saturday, October 11, 9 AM - 4 PM

In bowl turning class you will be guided through the steps of making your very own offset bowl. An offset bowl (pictured below) requires the student to have a significant amount of experience with bowl turning. Students will start with a 7x3 rounded blank and learn how to mount and turn to create a one of a kind bowl. Our newest class also features our newest instructor, Rich Cowan, who we are so excited has joined our instructional team! Come check it out and take your turning to the next level. Bowl Turning Experience Recommended, this is not a Beginner's Class.

Segmented Bowl

Segmented wood turning is an art form with very few limitations. By combining different components, you can create just about any different shape or size and by arranging different wood species, you can create just about any type of surface design. Two of the main benefits of segmented turning are 1. Using less wood to create a bowl and 2. NO end grain turning. Many designs require innovative assembly solutions, much like puzzle solving; and just like the joy of solving a puzzle, there is great joy in segmented turning. Come join us in a class and we bet you'll learn to love it too!

Keepsake Octagon Box

The octagon box makes a lovely box for anyone’s desk or dresser. This class will teach the next level of joinery and if the student includes the optional add on inlay class the student will also learn how to do one of the most unique and beautiful methods of decorating their projects, by using inlay. Beginning lathe work is easy with this hybrid pen making class. A hybrid pen is made with wood and acrylic. We make these awesome blanks in house and want to show you how easy it is to turn them. Students will learn basic turning techniques on a mini-lathe while making their very own hybrid pen. With a few extra steps we will complete the pen with a CA finish for maximum durability and protection. You will have a beautiful pen that you can show. Some turning experience is recommended.

Alumilite Cast & Turn

You've asked and we've listened. This class will cover the process of Alumilite pen blank casting with a pressure chamber. You will create custom pen blanks on day 1 and turn a pen on day 2. We will instruct the proper way to calculate, color, pour, pressurize, and turn Alumilite pen blanks in this fun, new class!

In the Spline Joint box, splines are used to add decoration as well as strengthening the joints of the box. In this class the student will make a lovely keepsake/jewelry box for keeping memorabilia, trinkets, or jewelry in. For those interested in expanding their woodworking skills, this class will teach unique woodworking tips and tricks for jigs and sleds, as well as joinery, band saw work, dado cuts and routing on the router table. The box will be completed to the point where the student can apply the desired finish and supplied hardware at home.
