Students will learn knife etiquette, basic cuts (stop, push and pull cuts) and a few extended/intermediate cuts, as well as how to care for and maintain your carving knife.
Learn what it takes to create a beautiful wooden bowl with a colored crystal inlay on the bowl rim from a 4 x 2 x2 turning block, using carbide-tipped tools. Topics not only cover basic lathe operation using carbide-tipped tools, but also include sectioning, face plate mounting, shaping, hollowing, inlay design, sanding and finishing . You MUST have completed Introduction to the Lathe or a Pen class before this class.
Children, 8 - 11 years old, will make a tool box in a one day workshop designed to give them a beginning foundation in woodworking techniques. One parent is excepted to stay with their child throughout the class.
