This class is designed for beginning woodworkers or those who have been away from their hobby for some time.
Using a variety of domestic and exotic woods, you will create a basket-weave pattern end-grain cutting board. Class will include milling the wood, 3 different glue-ups to create your colorful pattern, sanding and finishing techniques. At the end of the class you will have a beautiful solid end-grain cutting board, the envy of all your friends.
This class focuses on spindle turning using carbide-tipped tools.

Turn for Troops is a national initiative started by Woodcraft in 2004 to bolster the spirit of active duty and rehabilitating United States military service members. Woodcraft of Rockville with the Montgomery County Turners will host a turning event on Saturday and Sunday, November 8 & 9, to assist volunteers in handcrafting wooden writing pens. The gift of a unique wooden pen sends a message of appreciation, love, and support to both active duty service members and those in hospitals or rehabilitation centers. Turned pens are packaged and sent around the globe, with cards and information about how the pens were made. What a way to give back and make a difference. Simply put, anyone can turn a pen during the Turn for Troops event. There is NO experience necessary to volunteer. The Montgomery County Wood turners will be here to assist you in the process of turning a pen. There is also NO cost involved. Donate your time, and Woodcraft will provide all tools, supplies, equipment, and safety gear you will need. Just drop in at Woodcraft of Rockville on Saturday, November 8 from 10 am – 5 pm or Sunday, November 9 from 10 am – 4 pm.
