Making A Resin Blank and Pen

Part 1: Thursday, October 1, 2026, 1 PM - 5 PM

Part 2: Thursday, October 29, 2026, 1 PM - 5 PM

Customized pen blanks give you the opportunity to really elevate your pen making. In this two part class you will learn how to cast a pen blank – and then turn that blank into your own custom pen! Week one will focus on resin casting basics including resin types, colorants, molds, and pressure pots. You’ll select colorants, mix your resin and pour it into the mold. Then, in week two, you will come back to the shop to de-mold your pen blank, drill it, insert the tubes and turn your pen!

Skills Series: Bandsaw Basics

Tuesday, October 13, 2026, 11 AM - 3 PM

Learn how to safely and confidently use the bandsaw in this hands-on introductory class. Topics include bandsaw setup, blade selection, proper cutting techniques, curves, resawing, and making accurate cuts. Students will practice fundamental techniques while learning how to get the most from one of the most versatile machines in the woodshop.

Turn a Bowl with Traditional Tools

Friday, October 16, 2026, 1 PM - 5 PM

There’s a special kind of magic in turning a rough, uneven block of wood into a graceful, polished bowl—using nothing but a sharp gouge and your own hands. In this class, you’ll discover the art of traditional woodturning, where precision and touch come together to shape wood in real time. We’ll cover the essentials: lathe setup and safety, tool sharpening, and classic turning techniques using high-speed steel tools. This is a great opportunity to build foundational skills while creating a finished bowl that reflects both your craftsmanship and creativity. Perfect for beginners or anyone looking to deepen their turning experience—walk away with new confidence and a beautiful handmade piece.
