CLS397 - Custom Name/Word Puzzle With The Scroll Saw

Make a standup puzzle of any word or name. The instructor will provide you with "tiles" of letters that can be combined to form a word or name and a template for adding puzzle pieces that join the letters together. You will then attach this pattern to the wood and cut the wood with the scroll saw. Then you'll have time to sand and dye the puzzle. You'll leave with a set of the tiles and the puzzle piece template so you'll be able to make more puzzles on your own.

CLS233 Epoxy Resin and Wood Serving Tray

In this class students use the table saw to rip and crosscut wood to make the rectangular base and sides of a serving tray. Students will machine a groove in the sides and miter the corners and then glue to the sides to the rectangular base creating a cavity which epoxy resin can be poured into. Instructor will demonstrate various methods to add visual interest to the tray with epoxy. Students will then mix and add color to epoxy resin and pour it in the cavity of the serving tray. Projects would be ready for pickup in about 2 days.

CLS024 - Turn A Wooden Bowl Using Traditional Tools On The Lathe

Learn the fundamentals of bowl turning. This will include bowl design, blank preparation, chucking, shaping of the outside, hollowing of the inside and finishing. You will also learn the proper use of traditional bowl turning tools (not carbide), and how to position the tools to create efficient cuts with bowl gouges and scrapers. How to avoid “catches” while using the bowl gouge and how to hold the wood on the lathe for shaping and hollowing. Students will be assigned to their own lathe where they will learn to turn their bowl. Woodcraft will provide a bowl blank and woodturning tools for you to use. You can bring your own tools (not carbide) if you wish, and it is encouraged if you have them, but it is not a requirement. This class is intended for those with some experience working with a wood lathe.

This is a great opportunity to make a 3D cutting board with the master himself: Alex Snodgrass. Using only three different woods – maple, cherry, and walnut – Alex will show each student how to make a stunning 3D end-grain cutting board. He will begin by teaching each student how to tune a bandsaw to make perfect cuts. Students will then progress through techniques required to build a cutting board: how to make dead-on straight cuts and accurate angled cuts on the bandsaw, and how to plane, sand, glue, and clamp the cutting board. Topics to be covered include: bandsaw myths debunked, bandsaw mechanics, correct blade tension, accurate angle cuts, gluing techniques, end-grain planing, end-grain pattern alignment, food-safe finishes, and care and maintenance of cutting boards. By the end of the day, each student will have a fantastic 3D cutting board made with their own hands! This class is designed for woodworkers of all skill levels. CLS958 - Epoxy River Table Part 1 of 2

This is a 2 part class, All students attend both dates. Tution includes the 1st & 2nd date. In this class students will be introduced to the process of making an epoxy river table, including mold construction, slab preparation, and epoxy pouring. Several different epoxy options will be discussed, along with dye and dust coloring. In part one, students will build the mold, cut and treat the slab, and pour the river. In part two, students will be instructed on how to prepare their river table for an epoxy top coat using several power tools such as the table saw, jointer, various sanders, and router table. After preparing, the top coat will be poured and projects would be ready for pickup in about a day.

When you are done sanding you’ll have the opportunity to dye the wood. Plus you’ll get to keep the book of intarsia skills & patterns that was used in this class. This book has 24 other projects in it! With the knowledge & practice gained from this class you’ll be ready to continue your intarsia journey making projects from this book at home!
