    Poorly Manufactured

You get what you pay for in this vise. It is poorly manufactured, making it very difficult to install. Specifically, the top and bottom guide bars have corresponding tapped holes for connection bolts. If you line up the guide bars next to each other, these corresponding holes do not line up, making it nearly impossible to mount the sliding part of the vise without it binding up somewhere along its length of travel.

    Great product, works smoothly

I turned vise this on its side and used it as a Wagon Wheel Vise, then added a 6"x6" plate to make it even WIDER!

    Not worth your time.

This design was not well thought out at all. The bolt hole on the left side makes it impossible to install for left-handed use without additional machining (despite the customer service rep's claim to the contrary before I bought it). The top plate was countersunk on the wrong side. If your time is worth anything to you, pay the extra for a quality alternative.

Large Tail Vise - Challenging Install

Although I am happy with the price of the vise, I would probably spend more money for a different one if I had it to do over again. The top guide plate was badly bowed, but Woodcraft promptly replaced it for me. When I tried to install the two guide plates, I found the bolt holes did not line up and I had to enlarge one of the holes. The two screw holes for the top guide plate were countersunk on the wrong side, so I had to do some machining on them. Building and installing the vise was very time consuming and anyone trying to do this without a drill press will find it very difficult. After all the work , it turned out OK and will serve the purpose I bought it for.

With this vise your on your own!

This product arrived with absolutely NO instructions, no screws #8 countersink screws and the design leaves alot to be desired. I had to weld cross peices to the outer guides to (a) keep them square and (b) act as an attachment point other than the 2 pre-drilled they give you only in the top guide

Not a simple install, but worth it

The vise is not easy to install, and the #16 screws is suggests aren't available at the typical big bix stores, but it is very nice after it is installed. I would plan to spend about 6-8 man-hours installing it over the course of a couple days.

    Why no Screws?

It works nicely but it lacks basic install instructions and NO SCREWS! and the screws are hard to come by.. special order in a standard hardware store and you wont find em in the big box do it yourselfer stores at all.

    End Vise - disapointing

First off it came with bent bolts which were promptly replaced by Woodcraft. (Thanks). Second I had to reface the part which has the female threads in it. My friend had purchased one several years ago from Woodcraft and the same vise was made in Germany and reflected Quality. Now this one is a Chinese "knock off" which they apparently copied and it is definetly not the same quality for sure. (We compared them).

    Solid, nicely finished hardware

Haven't yet added to the bench I'm building, but it appears that it will be the foundation of a solid tail vise.

    Nice vise

This would have been better if they would have included the #16 screws. These are diffucult to find.

    Good Quality for price

Vise is ok for price. Better vises cost several hundred dollars. Better machining, better design along with decent instructions would be great. All in all,OK for price!!
