Codger Lodge Turners Aid Empty Bowls Food Pantry Program

Helping to feed the hungry is a nationwide effort provided by many community programs and food pantries across the U.S. One such program is the Empty Bowls Charity which began as a project by Michigan school teacher John Harton in 1990. Harton’s students crafted ceramic bowls in their high school art classes and the finished works were used as individual serving pieces for a fundraising meal of soup and bread, where the guests kept the empty bowls.

Made in China
Doesn’t say made in China on website, looks very cheaply made. Embossed printing rubbed off during shipping. Too much money to spend on made in China tools

Inaccurate measurements, odd selection
We were surprised to find that the tool measurements presented in this set are poorly correlated with the actual sizes of the working end of the tool. In particular, the 1/4 inch bowl gouge has a cutting flute that is substantially less than 1/4 inch, making it a poor choice for beginners. Since there is no standard in the industry, I would have expected Woodcraft to highlight this issue to buyers so they can understand what they are getting. Having to discover that this gouge, and all the others in the set are either larger or smaller than the stated size substantially reduces my confidence in the Woodcraft brand. Also, the selection of tools in this set is an odd choice for beginning turners. We, and the experienced wood turner advising us, expected more and got less as we have to buy other basic tools for our starter set.

Nice step up
A nice step up from the miniature set. I use this set mainly for wood lures. Works great and fast. Nice finish

Good Turning Set.
I'm not the user but my Daughter in Law who's a high skilled artist and Professor of fine Arts. She's very pleased and surprised with our gifts; the Jet Lathe and these Turning tools. We offered these objects to underline the opening of het new built Studio.
