What a bench
I'm 54 years old and have never had the pleasure to assemble anything that is this well engineered, this well manufactured, and of this level of quality. I guess I have grown accustomed to imported items that you have to rework 20% of the item for proper fit. This was made in Sweden and it shows. The fit of every single piece was flawless, if it was machined from metal it wouldn't have fit better. The instructions are fine, but mostly pictures. Take your time and view them carefully (once glued dowel joints are together they aren't coming apart). I also took advantage of Woodcrafts free integrated storage cabinet (best deal ever). From the pictures I was afraid the legs wouldn't be very strong or solid feeling. This thing feels like it was made from one piece of wood. They also include fittings in the top so the vises can both be used from either end or each end of the front. I know all this sounds over the top, but if you buy one, you will see what a great product this is.
Good Light Use Workbench
The 1450 went together easily although four of the screws had blank heads. The butcherblock top is flat but thin and not end-grain up, so heavy pounding is out. Table skids when using the end vise and requires a non-slip footing for even light planing. Supplied bench dogs are fragile. I'll make good use of it (with replacement dogs) for light cabinetmaking. A bargain for the price.
Great, solid workbench
Assembly was ridiculously easy. Well-designed and thought out. Solid construction (I bought the cabinet option, which I imagine made the whole thing that more solid.) Vices and bench dogs work great. This is not some cheap thing that looks like a workbench. It's the real deal.
Great in limited space workshop
This is the smallest model worktable for the Sjobergs line but it fits my workspace room and needs. I felt a need to reinforce it with some metal bracing, wood cross-bracing and added glue-up. It will still need some external anchoring when power tools are used. However, in the garage, I can move it around and temporarily brace it to the floor or wall. The vises are conveniently located and hold the work without loosening. I'm still undecided about the fiber plastic bench dogs. The price was good and it arrived intact aside from some external gashes in the cardboard.
What you see is what you get.
[...] Very versatile and perfect addition to my shop.
Best Workbench, highly recommended
Best Workbench I ever owned
A Great Workbench
This is a great workbench. I don't know how I got along without a workbench. The vises are very nice and the overall fit and finish is excellent.
not to sure
Cant believe they woud take such a nice top and set it on cheap construction lumber. Cross brace split and wobbles like crazy. Bought it on sale and not to sure I got my moneys worth becuase of the stand. Would definatly build a new one if I keep it. So Im asking myself is the top itself worth [$]?
Sjobert's Nordic Plus 1450 Workbench
Somewhat easy to assemble. There needs to be a description that there is defintely two leg styles and how they are to be assembled. Did not purchase the cabinets with the unit. I will use the bench for project construction and assembley.
I am glad that I purchased the workbench
I have used this bench on three projects already and it really made my work easy.
I have considered buying a second one
I build wooden boats and use this bench for small detail works. I also build custom furniture and repair furniture by creating duplicate parts.
I recommend this workbench.
This unit is attractive and will stand up under heavy use.
The bench was very easy to assemble and is very stable considering its lightweight. There is virtually no racking front to rear, slight racking side to side. When I added up the costs and time to build my own bench and buy vises and dogs, this alternative was much better. If you need a more stable surface for delicate hand plane or chisel work you probably need a heavier bench like Sjobergs elite series.
