        Very poor experience/poor performance

Absolutely love the Woodcraft Store. I also own many Rikon tools. This Dust Collector was recommended to me by an associate at the store. Very poor performance (possibly something wrong with the unit). WouldCraft would not return or exchange it. Suggested the Company Rikon would. They were much worse to deal with. I have moved on and bought a different unit. Will no longer be buying Rikon tools.

        Don't buy this

This may be a good dust collector if you can get it together. The holes for the hex bolts are not configured correctly so that they do the parts do not align. The instructions are terrible. They state that there are four hex bolts to attach the motor to the column but there are only three holes in the column. No matter how you rotate the column or the motor the filtration housing does not align with the support columns.

Great system for the small shop

This is my first dust collector, I’ve had this system for 14 months, in my opinion it’s a great system for small projects.

        The best 1hp out there

Please ignore any of the negative comments regarding instructions or suction. All 1hp units have roughly the same suction of about 650 cfm. This is meant as a single tool dust collector. I use it for my 1.5 hp table saw, 8" jointer, bandsaw, and dewalt planer. As for the instructions, if you can build furniture then you should be able to put this together with ease. As for the unit I have purchased a plastic 4"coupler with a 4"T with a blast gate on both sides of the T. This enables me to have one hose always on my table saw and the other hose available for other machines. I purchased a 1 micron bag and I duct tape my plastic bags at the bottom. The unit is extremely well made and is easy to move around. I have used Grizzlies and PSI woodworking 1hp units as well and I belive this unit is the best. You shouldn't be disappointed with this dust collector.

        Good Value

Works good. Assembly wasn't a problem. The gasket between the blower housing and the duct leaks. It needs a thicker gasket. Buy some foam to make a thicker gasket so you won't have to take it back apart.

        Good machine, poor assembly instructions

I read the reviews that said it came with poor assembly instructions and assumed that the complaining reviewers were just mechanically challenged........NOT . The assembly instructions are nearly worthless. In all fairness, this is easy to assemble once you put it together for the third time. Just be prepared to spend 3 times more than you would expect assembling, Throw the instructions away and be prepared to need additional hardware as some of what is included just flat doesn't work. Other than that it seems to be a good piece of equipment.

When all is said and done, I like it

I did lots of research before buying. I wanted to upgrade from a shop vac to something with more suction. I also needed something with a small footprint, that I could move around my small shop, uses 110v, and that wouldn't blast me out with noise. The Rikon fits the bill. I am able to hook it up to one machine at a time as needed, and can move it outside if I am working outdoors. It provides adequate suction to pull the dust from my bench saw, planer, and miter saw, and should do well with future tools. Plus, it's quiet enough to use with the doors to my work area closed. The only problems I had were with the instructions, and one very important part that came damaged. The instructions had the same flaw as earlier reviews pointed out; it's best to mount the motor unit last so that you can properly align it with the dust housing. Otherwise the two units might not match up, as the pillar for the motor has to be facing just right. The broken part was found when I had everything else assembled, and pulled the motor out of it's protective styrofoam. That's when I discovered the cooling fan impeller for the motor was broken! But, the good folks at Woodcraft Tampa replaced the unit for me, even giving me one that was already assembled and ready to go!

Don't judge beauty by it's sucking power

First time user. Severe hobbyist and home renovator. Use with table saw, planer, jointer, chop saw, general clean up. It's pretty. I expected much more power. Do your research. Do your research. I won't even try setting it up on my router table. I might recommend this to a friend, definitely to an enemy. Also, RIKON customer service never returned any of my four calls. Repeat headline.

        Very Good Product

This is a very nice product and an excellent value. The instructions for assembly, however, are really poorly written and illustrated. It took a fair amount of trial and error to put it together.

It's ok. Wish I had bought a larger CFM

I guess it's a good buy for a 650 CFM. I heard that you should buy as much dust collection as you can afford but I would say if you can afford at least a 1100 CFM machine then wait. 650 is just not enough.

        Great single tool DC

My floor space is limited so a large DC was out of the picture. The primary need is for my planer, but use it for other machines as well. The first time I used this with my planer (instead of a shopvac) the suction was powerful enough that it was pulling small chips in that had landed on the infeed table!

        Rikon 1HP Review

First of all, the unit was missing a couple parts from the box, the lower dust bag and a bolt for the caster. The unit went together easily, although the instructions were lacking. Suction is as expected for a 1hp unit. The biggest drawback is the vertical dust intake. When connected to a machine with a low dust port, the hose has to bend 180 degrees to reach.

        Excellent value; bad instructions!

Just bought at a local Woodcraft. Assembly was a real pain, and the assembly instructions are less than great. If you assemble the motor to the column before putting the column on the base (out of order), you'll be less frustrated. Having a metric socket set w/ ratchet is also very useful. I gave the 'poor design' tag because of the assembly instructions. I also suspect that replacing the collection bag will be inconvenient. It really is a very good value for a small shop. The footprint is small (15"x30" by 60" tall), and being on casters, is easy to maneuver. It's a bit on the noisy side, but I suspect that's because this is my first dust collector. I have hearing protection. If you don't, get some! Excellent value for a single machine, or maybe two machines simultaneously, so ideal for the home hobbyist woodworker! Just be prepared to curse a bit while assembling!

A little aprehensive, but well worth it!

This is the first dust collection system i've bought. I'm very pleased. If you are just a hobby carpenter, this is perfect. GET the DUST SEPARATOR from woodcraft, makes a HUGE difference in emptying speed and efficency. Worth every penny.

Good Value For A Small Shop

This Is my first dedicated dust collector. Have been using my shop vac up to this point. The Rikon 60-100B works great when attached to a single tool at a time. I could see where one would desire a unit with a higher CFM if planning to connect your collector to any type of system. Beats the heck out of having to deal with a clogged shop vac filter.

        Low price, High value

I connected this unit to my woodworking equipment using 4" thin wall pvc and made a quick conect for each tool. This unit sucks he air clean of dust and I can both work and breathe.
