Works great
Have been using these for years on storage ottomans. They work great. I’ve never had any issues. But you found need the correct weight rating for your lid. I do wish that they would make them in a silver, gold, or a black finish.

Yes, the right one works as well as the left one. Excellent product. It isn't the prettiest one you will see, but for a slow close hinge, I think it is the best. And yes, I have tried a few. I like it so much I am buying several to have on hand and to give to friends.

If you are building a toy box or just adding support to an existing box, these are the best solution for supporting the lid at any angle and preventing childrens fingers from getting pinched, the lid will not slam shut with the right supports for the job. Easy to install even for the inexperienced!

High quality, easy to install!
I bought three of these spring loaded lid supports. One for a toy chest, one for a hope chest, and one for a window seat (where the seat/bench is also a chest). In all three cases, this lid support was easily capable of holding the lid open, and safely closing the lid, so as to avoid crushing my children's fingers.

Where the
First: The product may work fine, if I had the right IP units and ifo. I was given 2 supports - a 04X12 and a 04Y31 (not even the same), only later to find my application is 78IP. Second, there are little specifications; not even the IP's on the package or instructions. In addition, I am using full 120deg overlay hinges 142852, there is no info on how to install this product on hinged other than some undimenisioned standard hinge. What stops the lid from opening to only 85deg? And, insufficient dimensions to recalculate repositioning for overlays. Now I have to build a fake lid/case with my hinges to see if it will work at all. Third, when I went to your web site and looked up 77A13, no find. Forth, it appears the lid support locks if opened more than 85deg. If the hinge does not have a stop, what stops this product from locking. How does a child unlock it? In summary, insufficient info to use this product.

Great value, great product
We purchased a large wooden chest for our baby boy's room. The lid is solid, heavy wood and we do not want him to smash his fingers/hands/head when he's older and begins to use the chest for his toys. I purchased two of these lid supports, and I am so glad! They were very easy to install (anyone can do this), and they work like a charm. The lid definitely needed two of them, one was not enough. But once they were both installed, the lid is very easy to open, and will not close unless pushed shut. We love these! Thank you for helping us keep our little man safe!

Safety first!
I needed something to keep the lid open on a cedar chest so that we could store my grandchildren's toys safely. No squashed little fingers while at Gramma's house!
