Little work cleans up the recesses
Will need to complete additional work on head recesses. As you can see from the picture the parts will not go together using #19 1 1/4 screws, #8 screws will work in the holes next to the pins as you are not able to machine these

I would pruchase this part again
I am using this part to make a loft bed. I am using this part thru out the entire structure and will not need any tools to assemble the bed when I finish.

Simple, Easy to install
I bought three sets of these to put my kids beds together. The holes on the rail piece required to be countersunk a little more in order to slide by the post piece. Other than that installation was simple. My wife liked that you could screw the whole assembly together to prevent accidental removal of the rail in a bunkbed application. All in all hapy with the purchase.

No mortise bed rail fitting
Had to countersink the holes a bit more so the screws would sit flush

Geeze ---
These things work great. I had purchased similar ones from a different supplier that had problems with the pins pulling out where they were swedged to the plate. Had to mig weld the backs of the pins to hold them securly. These however are fine. I have tested them on a hydraulic press to over 1000 pounds and they held up. As far as the perceived screw not fitting - one minute with a countersink bit will adjust any deviation in the recess so #10 screws fit perfectly. I've used brackets like this on over a hundred beds and these are the best yet.

Not great for king size bed
If there was going to be no human movement in the bed it might be fine. I used it for a king sized bed and should have gone with the mortised bed rail fittings. If your building a crib for a baby that wont be moving too much, it might be fine. Unfortunately there is enough slop in the brackets that there is too much movement within it. I am going to have to put some metal shims in.

Versatile and sturdy
I bought a set to simplify a bed pedestal with storage drawers and immediately came up with a dozen other uses for these things. In addition to the pedestal I have built a knock down firewood rack, utility bench, and barbecue table. The possibilities are endless and these fittings make quick work out of otherwise tricky problems.

Simple
Simple design yet sturdy!

The no mortise feature is nice
I saw the comments re the need to file the screw heads down and if you use the #10 screws on the inside of the plate, you will need to do that. However, if you use a #9 screw, it should work just fine. I used the #10 screws on the out side holes, and # 9 on the two inside ones. Should not have lost any strength this way.

This product worked great
They work great ,just be sure to install as explained in the instructions

Not a problem!!
I build cribs that convert into day beds and then full size beds. This is by far the easiest way for the cribs to convert into the full size beds!I know i read some other comments about this bed rail fitting and they claim the the screws are hard to get flush, but if you take your time and use a self centering bit and drill the hole straight you will not have any problems!!

Best Raill Bracket available
I make my living building beds. I have used these brackets on literately hundreds of beds and have done heavy research to find a cheaper replacement. But I keep coming back for these. They are incredibly easy and quick to install and do allow for a bit of variance (unlike other brackets) as long as they are installed correctly you will get a snug and tight fit. I even use these on king size beds and have tested them to loads of 1000lbs+ To the individuals that had trouble with these brackets. It was probably operator error rather than the design of the brackets them selves. I think it would have been easier to buy a different size screw then to fool around with filing down his #10 screws lol If you can read a tape and use a pencil you can install these brackets

bad hardware
First, they do not work with #10 screws. Second they do not line up flush at all and totally screwd up my project. And lastly, aprox 3 inches means close maybe 1/8 or so, but they are actually 3 1/4 inches which is retarded when they say aprox 3 inches. Save yourself money and getting mad by choosing a more quality product

Worked just as expected, top quality
used it for a project that it was not originally designed for

I would buy this product again.
No-Mortise bed rail are easy to use. I've used them on four sets of bunk beds with no trouble.

Good Hardware
The guys below must be smoking something. The hinges went on fine and you DO NOT NEED to buy 2 sets (1 set per bed). I bought 2 set per the suggestion below and now I have a extra set that will linger in my garage unit the next bed I build.

Looks solid but some design issues....
I totally agree with the previous review. To begin, although I do alot of do it yourself projects, I had never made a bed before. I purchased #10 screws. The screw heads do NOT lay flush with the fastener. At first I thought it was the screw I was using, but then the same thing happened with different #10 screws purchased at a different store. The problem with this is that the fasteners will not fit together unless the screw heads are flush or pretty close to flush. So I had to do some filing. Not particularly difficult to do but definitely time consuming and an unnecessary step. Once filed though, the fasteners fit really snug...there is no wobbling...As for their durability, I can't say since my 5 year old has only slept in his bed now for a week. I can't say whether these would work on a larger bed holding a heavier load...But they seem sturdy enough for my 5 year old's twin bed so if anything happens, I will be sure to update my post. Like I mentioned this is my first bed so I can't really compare this product with other non mortise bed fasteners. If I ever do though, I think I will most likely try another product. Finally, make sure you purchase 2 sets of these in order to make an entire bed.

Why not supply the screws?
Great idea and easy to install, but brackets do not come with screws. I realize that required screw length is unknown, but I purchased recommended screw head type and found that the installed screw head did not mount flush with the bracket. I even tried two material types of screws (brass and steel) but no difference. This slight protrution prevented an easy mating of the brackets. The countersink on the brackets were not deep enough.
