This project was my first experience in turning these Travel Mugs offered in a kit by Woodcraft.  This is a relatively new kit with a screw top lid.  In our online ad, it states, “Create a custom travel mug using your favorite wood or mixed media to produce a one-of-a-kind dramatic effect.  You can either turn the outer liner using a stave configuration or simply use solid wood blocks.  Although this kit is for an experienced turner, you will find that the hollowing techniques are easy to execute, and the results are nothing short of amazing.

    Meh..

I was hoping this would give me a smooth finish. It doesn't, or if it does, I haven't figured it out. I'll keep it for hogging out lots of wood but when it's time for finishing, I will go back to traditional tools.

I hate to spend time sharpening tools. These tools are great.

    Cheating

I am just starting turning. I have done 4 bowls and attempted 3 goblets. Catches have destroyed all goblets. With this tool it was a easy quick turn and a perfectly turned goblet. No catches and easy work on cross grain. Far less sanding on this project. A truly great tool.

    good tools

This is a heavy duty tool that is made to cut wood. The handle is long enough to balance out the tool. Is very sharp and does not dull like the other tools.

    Ci0 Easy Finisher

Absolutely amazing to watch this thing cut! Used it on wenge after ruining 3 blanks due to catching and breakage, turned a beautiful bowl. Just be careful, blade is sharp. Don't ask me how I know:)

    Worked ok on a bowl.

    * Price of tool. ** Price of cutter. * Hard cutter may chip easily if not cared for. * Disposable cutter VS simply honing HSS tool. ****Very few "catches" in inside bowl turning. ****Finishing bowl interior slight better than HSS *** Handle length may interfere with some lathe tailstocks. * Round cutter produced inconsistent and very undesirable machining rings or marks on spindles on a spindle despite numerous techniques.

    Amazing Tool

I use this tool for hollowing the interior of bowls and for some spindle work. It's so easy to use, it feels like you're cheating.

    Easy Finisher

Limited use so far but I have found it excellent and look forward to using it more. It was easy to use successfully without catches immediately. I'm sure with more use it will become more effective.

    Very versatile

The quality of cut is great, I find myself using this tool in more situations. I started out using it on bowls but have also used it in spindle turing. The only downside is that the replacement cutters are expensive.

    This tool is awsome

I love this tool!! I have used it over and over to hollow out bowl interiors and it doesn't catch. You end up with a decent interior surface which needs light sanding to get to the finishing stage. The cutting wheels are a little pricey but you can rotate the wheel a few times to prolong the life of the blade.

    Love this tool!

Works very well for hollowing out bowls and other vessels. Hard to get a catch with the round cutting edge. The only draw back is the cutting blades are expensive.
