    Dissapointing

    The bits do not cut well in hard wood. Small bits up to 1" have round shanks which may spin in the Woodriver Forester extensions (145706) because they are too short for the second set screw to make contact. Larger sizes have hex shanks which will work. I would not recommend buying this set.

    Barely passable. Not sharp.

    While the diameter dimensions are spot-on, and the cutting surfaces will tear your skin, they are not sharp and will simply tear their way through your wood. The cutting surfaces have deep milling gouges that indicate that the manufacturers were focused on speed and not on precision. After several attempts to "make do" with these mediocre WoodRiver bits, I ended up replacing my set with a set of Freud forstner bits at 3x the price, and am happy I did so.

    Excellent Quality!

    I was a little leary about buying this set, which came to about $80 after tax, based on some of the reviews, such as dull/nicked cutting edges and damaged boxes, but I took a chance and could not be more pleased. I carefully inspected the set and found no inferior points or edges. The box is a work of art, and I have used several of the bits already, including the 3/4, 7/8, 1.5, and 2.125 inch drill bits. They work beautifully. Perhaps the previous comments served to get Wood River to step up their game. I am the benefactor and am proud to have this set in my collection. They are definitely worth having.

    Knicks in the cutter

    The set was tempting, the quality just isn't there. There are visible knicks in the edge of the cutter and I'm using my old eyes to see them, no magnifying glass necessary. I didn't take them out of the packaging, just going to return. Better to buy these one by one or spend the money on a better set.

    Affordable excellent forstner bit set.

    I design and build modern furnitures as well as maintaining and repairing old antique furnitures. I often use forstner bits in my work and I found that the sizes of these bit sets are very handy and accurate. So far I have not really found anything to dislike about these bits.

    Well worth the price

    So far they are what I espect from a Frostner bit. Have used almost half of the sizes. All have functioned properly. When used as designed they perform flawlessly. Great price when they are on sale. Great for adding to existing sets or as a replacement set.

    Needs sharpening

    I assumed after buying these they would be sharp..at least the teeth were. After using the larger bits on some projects I inspected the cutting edges and found they were poorly ground, had large nicks and no sharpened edge at all. After spending a couple of hours with different grit diamond sharpening stones I got them to the point that they were ok....but still not sharp. Good deal for the money, but you'll have to put some of your own work in to make them effective.

    A Good Buy

    I bought this set when it was on sale and thought I'd get what I paid for. I was pleasantly surprised. Theses are sturdy and bore holes with smooth sides and flat bottoms. I use them alot to hog out material when turning hollow forms.

    A STEAL AT THE SALE PRICE

    I have only used the smaller diameters so far. Work just as good as the "much older" name brands I have. the newer tech. stuff like COLT perhaps cut quicker & easier, eject chips better, won't need sharpening as often.If I was rich I would get them, I'm not. these cut beautifully clean flat bottom holes & I have 16 sizes to choose from. I one happy monkey with an axe now.

    The storage case is excellent on this product. The bits create a good clean cut, quickly.

    A lot of bang and not so much whiz

    I make a napkin holder and salt and pepper shaker combine,it is perfect for for drilling smooth holes the right size I need on each particular item.

    Needs sharpened

    These were a featured on-sale item, and they where out of stock. It took 2 weeks to recieve them. The box was broken from either packaging or was a return. I have a hard time believing they would send out a broken box... Bits need sharpened, they where all dull. Good price, they are better then harbor frieghts forstner bits by a long shot though.

    Everyone should have these

    for the price you can't beat this product. Many uses, drilling holes, hogging out material, carving pumpkins, the list is endless. Bought my own set a few years back, just purchased this set for my father.

    Good buy for the hobbiest

    This is a very good set for the hobbiest/do it yourselfer. Bargain price when you catch it on sale. Cuts clean precise holes with a drill press or lathe chuck. The box is nice and keeps the bits organized. Short shanks on Forstner bits are normal and not a problem. Any residual wood can be removed with a spade bit and sanded. I have used several of the bits and they work well.

    Excellent product for the money.

    I use these bits mainly for woodturning,ie, boring holes in rough stock for a screw chuck. They never hesitate, even when going through deep bark. And they cut extremely clean. I would recommend this set for any home shop or DIY'er.

    Great value!

    This is the first set of forstner bits I've ever used or owned. I needed them for a project and they happened to be on sale. [...] The bits are kept in a nice wood box that protects the bits very well. I've used the 3 of the bits so far, 1/4", 1-1/4", and 1-1/2", all through pine. The results were fantastic! I'm anxious to try these bits using hardwood.

    Great on Sale Purchase

    This was a great set of Forstner bits. I have been looking to replace my old ones and saw these on sale so I bought them. Unlike my old set, these had a box for storage and they went into production the day they arrived!

    Great Set for the Price

    I only needed a couple bits to create mortises for a candle holder and found one bit could cost me about $20 if not more (depending on the manufacturer). I found this set of 16 bits normally priced at ~$80 on closeout for about half that. I've used four or five bits so far from the set and am very happy with the quality of the bits and the cuts they make. The storage case is a little clumsy but sturdy enough.

    Excellent for an import!

    I have a small wood shop to produce custom hardwood picture frames etc. from mill stock. These bits are excellent for producing office desktop pencil holders with a front area for photographs. Robert Provencal
