    Details

Since earliest recorded history, Japanese foresters have harvested huge trees for traditional construction of temples and other buildings. Its unique shape allows this axe to cut deep into the trunk and reach deeply buried roots. Mr. Tsuguo Abe is the last of a long line of blacksmiths specializing in hatchets and axes since before the 1830's. He hand forges each axe with a combination of high carbon and low carbon steels. His forging technique creates a long lasting edge that is easy to resharpen. The axe weighs in at 4 3/4 lbs. The length of the cutting edge is 3½" and overall length of head is 8". The length of the handle length is 36". An Edge cover is included.
