    Expected better at this price

    The PDF instructions (#77A78) don't explain what the little black platic cone thing is for. I assembled the pencil without it and it won't advance lead. Put it in end of pencil cartridge and it now advances lead but lead won't stay out, it slides right back in. I expect more from a kit at this price. Looks like I may have wasted a redwood burl blank.

    I wound buy this product again and again

    This product requires exact construction of tubes and assembly of parts, but is not difficult to do. I would recommend to anyone who wants a quality pencil kit for all gifts or personal use.

    would have made a nice gift

    I have done pens in the past and I figured that a pen and pencil kit would make a nice gift. The pen went together and work as expected, but the pencil would not go together because the brass tubes were cut to the wrong length from the factory. I marked this below average for this reason. If the tubes would have been the right lengths this kit would have been 5 stars.

    I didn't care for it.

    The center ring needs a bit of overlap for the pencil to look right, not mentioned in the instructions. The mechnism for extending and retracting lead was awkward to use. I didn't care for it.

    Great gift easy to make!

    I make the pen and pencil sets as gifts for my son's teachers each year.
