Details

Modeled after the well-known U.S. Forest Service “Boy’s Axe” and made from 5160 American Steel, this beauty takes improved performance one step further. The axe head is pierced with a special punch to form ribs horizontally and vertically inside the eye, creating more contact area between the head and handle and resulting in a more durable tool. The Dayton patterned head features somewhat thicker cheeks although slightly convex. This feature, combined with a sharp edge, means a deeper bite without sticking, and each axe is hand sharpened to fit a gauge, ensuring consistency. This Council Tool axe is a great mid-sized tool for camping, carrying in a vehicle and at home – small enough to split kindling for the cook stove yet big enough to fell a tree. Premium leather sheath included.
Overall weight: 3.40 lbs.
Head weight: 2.25 lbs.
5160 American Steel with a 28" American hickory handle.

Building Tools – Building Trust…Since 1886
Council Tool was founded in 1886 by John Pickett Council. Today, Council Tool is still a family owned business led by the fourth generation of the Council family with some pretty straightforward ideas about toolmaking and business. They value the people who design and manufacture their products: employees who are hardworking Americans with the skill, experience, dedication and pride necessary to produce the quality and value customers expect. John M. Council, III, fourth generation family member and current president and CEO, explains, “You’ve got to stand behind what you do. We are known as a manufacturer of quality products. Our customers will tell you that … and our competitors will tell you that.”
