Common uses of basswood include carvings, lumber, musical instruments (electric guitar bodies), veneer, plywood, and wood pulp and fiber products.

The wood was very soft, unlike northern
Usually, you sell northern basswood which holds carving details well. I only used one piece and while I was able to overcome it with care, carving accross the grain caused splintering. This is typical of Southern basswood which is usable but inferior to the Northern product.
