Wonderful, versatile tool!
Used this product the day I received it. There are many uses for this grinder I have yet to explore. I purchased this because I carve and sculpt just about everyday and these objects include bowls, spoons, medium sized sculptures, tool chests and much more. All my work is crafted using my carving gouges on super dense and hard exotic woods. With the mini grinder, I am able to save time by speeding up the removal of wood and detail. Also saves time by eliminating steps I would have to take going the traditional route all the time. Well worth it. The mini-industrial blade cuts the smoothest with a little better control than the supplied carving wheels. I also purchased a couple of replacement belts.

Controllable Motor- Add variable power
I switched to the Arbortech mini grinder after burning out a Merlin. It felt bulky at first, but I use an angler grinder also so the transition was relatively quick. The first thing I noticed was the speed- It's fast and burned the test wood. It also took more wood away than I was used to. I hooked up a Variable Power Control (like on a trainset) and sure enough, the speed is controllable. The difference is night and day- I'm loving this tool for carving and looking forward to many years with it. One last note for the lefties- It's not symmetrical- offset for a right handed person- but like usual you'll make do.

Arbor Tech Mini Grinder
This tool works as stated and demonstrated. I had hoped that the finish with the carbide blade was smoother but it still way out performs other grinder wheels I have used for carving. Some sanding is necessary to produce a smooth finish. I am very happy with the purchase. The ability to do detail is superb.

Solid performer
Works as advertised. Powerful, great for getting into tight corners and trimming with accuracy. On/off switch gets jammed with dirt and debris--so I taped plastic around it. Easy to convert to sanding. Sanding discs don't last long, but you can replace yourself with stick on replacements as long as plastic holder is still in good shape.

great tool
great tool much better than trying to line up chain saw blades on little wheels but haven't found many accessories

Tough
Used as a tool in sculpting laminated wood. Gets into smaller spaces than standard 3 1/2 grinder.

The challenge of the Mini Grinder
My intention was to use it for blocking out sculptural forms, now I'm seeing the creative dimensions of the tool. I'm enjoying the challenge of learning how to use this wonderful mini grinder with my hand carving tools.

Great asset to my tree carving project

It made my project alot easier.
I purchased this product as a means of removing alot of wood from a tree stump I was carving. The wood was chinese elm which turned out to be extremely hard wood and my carving would have taken months without the mini grinder. It allowed me to create the rough outline of my carving in a short amount of time. By hand, it would have taken longer and been more difficult. I will be using the mini grinder in all my future carving products. The only negative was that the sanding disks do not last long.
