I thought these might meet the needs for mounting heavy duty casters with a threaded spindle but they are simply not designed for a significant eccentric load. I bought some threaded (inside for the caster and outside for wood) inserts instead — these proved to be much stronger. Perhaps I would have seen different results with different wood — application was for an an existing (and quite old) work table.
