In this class you will tune up your skills by using the band saw, spindle sander, belt sander, disk sander, clamping and gluing. With expert guidance from Harlem, you will take a simple block of wood and turn it into a beautiful box. The skills you learn will enable you to progress into many other uses for your band saw. Join us for the first in a series of skills building router classes sure to put you on the right track with your new router. This hands-on course will cover the basic functions of one of the workshop's most versatile tools. The router can be used for everything from putting a decorative edge on wood, to making fast and accurate mortise and tenon joints. Topics include router safety, choosing a router, making jigs, bit selection, router tables and more. Students will get practical experience using the fixed base router and router table, while completing a small project. This course provides the foundation for more advanced techniques and classes.
Randy will provide hands-on instruction for the steps to make a Cedar Gathering Basket. Completed basket measures 16" x 8". Will cover material selection, layout and machining, and finishes.
