We will start with an introduction to the process of wood burning and review samples of artwork created by the instructor. We’ll introduce the wood burner: show it being used, heat settings, different nibs and what patterns they make. Students will create their own project on a 7" to 9" basswood round by sketching a design on the wood, burning the outline and adding details using shading and other techniques and the project will ready to finish and display.

In this class we will build a small tool tote using simple joinery. Pocket holes, dadoes and finger joints all will be discussed. Tools used will include the table saw, drill press, band saw and router table. Each student will have the opportunity to use the tools and practice the skills demonstrated.
