In this class, students will learn the fundamentals of bench making while focusing on lumber selection and milling, glue up for seat, leg angle layout, and joinery. Students will take home a solid wood bench that will be great as a seat, step stool, or general-purpose shop bench.

Students will learn to design and create CAD/CAM code that can be saved and utilized on their CNC getting the same results each time. Students will make and take home a personalized name plate with added embellishments. In this class, students will build a solid wood side table with the clean, classic look of Shaker design—using modern, beginner-friendly techniques. We’ll use the Festool Domino for joinery and a tapering jig on the table saw to shape the legs. Students will glue up their own tabletops and learn how to attach them in a way that allows for natural wood movement. This is a great project for building confidence with furniture-making basics while creating a beautiful and functional piece.

Students will learn the basic design elements and methods to use a bowl gouge for clean cutting, how to mount a bowl blank on the lathe, be introduced to additional lathe tools, understand the requirements for a sharp tool, and make a small bowl. The bulk of the class is a hands-on experience. Intro to the Lathe and Spindle Turning class or Instructor Permission is required.
In this two part Intro to Epoxy Resin class students will learn every step of the process, including fitting a live edge slab into a mold, mixing epoxy (with colors), pouring the epoxy, removing the mold, shaping and finishing. Students will take home their very own live edge and epoxy resin piece which can be used as a serving board or small table top or wall art.
