Intended as an introduction to pen turning. Students will learn turning safety, tools, and techniques on the lathe and use the bandsaw and drill press to create a beautiful cigar style pen to take home. Materials included.

Hybrid Slimline Pen

Part 1: Sunday, September 22, 1 PM - 3 PM

Pour your own hybrid resin and wood pen blank to turn into a slimline pen. We will pour the blank in the first session and turn the cured blank in the second session. Materials included.

Learn how to layout and create patterns without a template. Carve patterns and scenes using a v-tool and gouges. These "applied" designs are a great way to add some pop to your projects. With a small kit many designs are possible. Students will have the option to turn their carved board into a coat rack. Materials included.

Intended for new turners. Students will get hands-on experience while learning turning safety, tools, and techniques. Instruction will focus on spindle turning and traditional lathe tools. Students will take home a small spindle turned item. Let's make something! Materials included.

This class is the perfect introduction to the woodshop! Students will be introduced to the most common tools in the shop as they go through milling, shaping, and finishing and end up with a beautiful cutting board/serving tray to take home. This is a hands-on experience so safety will be the top priority. Materials included.

Monday, September 30, 3:30 PM - 7 PM

This class will provide students with a basic understanding of a CNC machine as well as Vetric software. Students will learn to design and create CAD/CAM code. Students will make and take home a personalized name plate with added embellishments. Required tools - Laptop with Vetric Software installed before the class (we're happy to offer guidance for downloading and installing Vetric), USB Drive 2.0, no larger than 2GB.

This class will teach students how to make a cutting board from a kit. Students will learn how to arrange, assemble, smooth, shape and finish a cutting board. Materials included.

Create a hunting and fishing knife to use for a lifetime, or give away as a gift. Students will learn to shape and affix a custom handle for a one-of-a-kind knife. No metal working is involved in this class. Materials included.

Intended for turners wanting to learn how to use a bowl gouge. Students will learn the basic design elements and methods to use a bowl gouge for clean cutting, how to mount a bowl blank on the lathe, be introduced to additional lathe tools, understand the requirements for a sharp tool, and make a small bowl. The bulk of the class is a hands-on experience. Intro to the Lathe and Spindle Turning class or Instructor Permission is required.

Spend the morning making UV resin art and a small wooden keepsake box to store your new treasure and more! For children 6+. Adult supervision required, no tuition for an accompanying adult. Materials included. Please wear clothing that can get stained/dirty. Long hair needs to be tied back. Bring small keepsakes to preserve in resin if you would like to.

Spindle Turning II

Tuesday, November 5, 4 PM - 7 PM

This class will expand upon the traditional tools and cutting skills taught in the Introduction to the Lathe and Spindle Turning Class. We will briefly review the use of the spindle gouge/roughing gouge/parting tool and then focus on the use of the skew. We will make the following cuts with a skew: “V”, rolling a bead, planning, and the pommel (square to round used in many spindles). We will use some of these cuts to produce a (small) rolling pin. The bulk of the class is a hands-on experience. Intro to the Lathe and Spindle Turning class or Instructor Permission is required.

Ornament Bird House

Monday, November 25, 4 PM - 7 PM

In the class you will learn about the lathe, tooling used to create a beautiful multi piece bird house ornament. David will take you from two pieces of wood and instruct you how to create a hand-turned ornament. The lid will be a mortise and tenon fit to the hollow body. The bottom of the ornament will be a finial. The student will learn basic turning skills, and safety. The students will be afforded the opportunity to utilize both traditional tools as well as Easy Wood Carbide tools. In addition to the lathe, the bandsaw and drill press will be utilized to cut and drill the wood prior to the turning.

This class will provide students with a basic understanding of a CNC machine as well as Vetric software. In this class, students will use the free trial version of Vetric to follow along the creation of a "Backyard BBQ" sign. One lucky student will get to take the sign home. Required tools - Laptop with free trial version of Vetric Software installed before the class (we're happy to offer guidance for downloading and installing Vetric).
