Surface defects such as scratches, sanding swirls, glue spots, and similar imperfections, most times, can be easily seen if you wipe or brush on a coat of naptha prior to applying the finish.
The coat of naptha will highlight the defects and it does not raise the grain. It quickly evaporates so you can fix the defects and finish your project.
NOTE: Only perform this operation in a well-ventilated area. Breathing naptha fumes is dangerous.
