Over the years, I’ve tried about every method for jointing the edges of veneers. Ultimately, I’ve found that the best way is also the simplest. Here’s how it works.
Sandwich a veneer packet between the board and the fence, adjusting the fence to allow the packet to slide easily but with just a bit of friction. This creates a chute that compresses and stabilizes the stacked veneers to allow easy, accurate jointing of their edges. After jointing the first packet, readjust the fence if necessary to suit the thickness of the next packet, and continue in the same manner.
