When drum sanding work that requires both fine and course grit sleeves, cut a course and a fine grit sleeve in half (width-wise) and put half of each sleeve on the drum at the same time. Sand with one grit or the other by changing your depth-of-cut with your drill press handle or by placing a piece of wood on your drill press table that is the correct thickness to get the workpiece up to the next sleeve on the sanding drum.
