Imagine carrying your dust-collection system on your shoulder to an offsite job or project. Woodcraft has added a brand-new dust extractor from Festool that offers this portability.
“Beginning May 1, the Festool CT SYS Portable Dust Extractor will be available at Woodcraft,” national power tool sales manager Andrew Bondi said. “It is designed to make dust collection easy for small projects at offsite professional job locations, as well as for home use.”
The 15.2-lb. dust extractor is designed with two separate components. The dust extractor is integrated into a Festool Systainer that features tools, filter and dust bag and can easily be transported with a shoulder strap or handle. The top portion, which acts as onboard storage for the nearly 10′ hose and a 16′ power cord, can be removed for a more compact design. This unit incorporates another signature feature of a Festool CT, Tool-Triggered Activation, which allows a tool to be connected so the extractor comes on when the tool is turned on. The dust extractor can also be used manually with the included tools to clean up debris.
“Like other Festool dust-collection products, this portable extractor features Full Unit HEPA Certification, which is not the norm for other portable units on the market,” Bondi said. “This certification is important because the Environmental Protection Agency requires a HEPA-filtered vacuum cleaner for projects that would disturb lead-based paint in homes, child care facilities and schools built before 1978.”
Despite the small size, Bondi said this portable dust extractor delivers a maximum 106 CFM suction capacity at a noise level of only 67 decibels. Integration in the Festool Systainer system allows the dust extractor to be locked to other Systainers for transport and uses such as a work surface.
