About the Winners

Gordon Hoffman, a Supplier Collaboration Engineer for Caterpillar, said his interest in woodworking and home improvement dates back to when he and his wife Susan purchased their first home that required remodeling projects that he did with the help of his friends.

“My interest grew from that point as I added more tools to my collection, thanks to Woodcraft,” Hoffman said. “My latest projects were the completion of an addition to our second home, followed by finishing our basement. These last two projects were done with my son-in-law, Matt, which was a great bonding experience.” Helpers also include grandsons Landon, 9, and Liam, 2. Daughter Kayla is the photographer.

During the basement project, Hoffman said he included an 18' x 30' workspace that is perfect for the tools that he just won.

A Woodcraft customer and Woodcraft Magazine subscriber, Hoffman said, “I love your stores, products, articles, tools and tips that you sell and provide. I am like a young child (I am 62 years old) every time I go into your stores. If I order something I can’t wait for it to show up.”

Kirk Lientz traces his woodworking interest and his current career to his uncle’s construction business where he began working 40 years ago. Twenty-three years ago he started his own business, Alpine Construction Co.

Kirk said his newly won tool collection will come in handy for the custom furniture he has been wanting to build for himself.

He is an online Woodcraft customer who shared: “I think they (Woodcraft) sell excellent tools. I am a craftsman, and I appreciate quality tools.”

Shannon Shumard registered for the giveaway sweepstakes while shopping at the Seattle Woodcraft store.

“I was looking at some tools for a project,” Shannon said. “I was wanting to craft wood signs, so I was looking at a carving tool for my engraving. I work for a school district in the area, so this is a DIY project I thought would be fun to get into as a hobby. Luckily, I won most all the tools I'll need to get started and I’m really excited!”
