Tips & Tricks: Door-Hanging Supports

When hanging cabinet doors with European hinges, I first screw the cup halves to the door and then attach the mounting plates to the hinge arms. Next, I hold the door in open position against the cabinet box in order to mark the locations of the mounting plates on the cabinet side. However, it can be a little tricky to hold the door while doing this. To make the job a lot easier, I cobbled up these door supports—one for a right-hand door, and one for a left-hand door. To use one, clamp it to the cabinet bottom as shown, positioning the shoulder to hold the door laterally about where you want it. This allows you to easily mark the hinge plate locations.
