This is a class favorite! Chairs are supposed to be difficult to make right? Let Ray guide you through the process and see just how simple it can be. From the angled joints used to attach the legs and aprons to the shaping of the chair back frame, splat, and cabriole legs, the students will lose their apprehension of applying odd shaped elements to their future projects. The most common comment from students leaving this class is “That wasn’t as hard as I expected!” You will be amazed at how few hand tools are needed to create this great museum piece!

Basic Box Building

Wednesday, July 2, 6 PM - 9 PM

Small boxes have a wide variety of uses and make excellent gifts. They can be carved, accented with inlay or highly figured woods and decoratively changed with the router. In this class you will make a box using mitered joints and spline construction.

Bowl Turning 101

Saturday, July 5, 10 AM - 4 PM

Turned wooden bowls can make your dining experience truly memorable or create a display piece to show off your talent. This class will focus on using basic turning tools and techniques to create these wooden bowls. Wood selection and mounting for grain orientation to get the most out of each piece will be discussed along with selection of proper tools. Students will turn a bowl using a recess and expanding chuck system to mount their bowl blank. Please don't wear sweater type material. Wood chips stick to this and we don't want you to ruin clothing. Wear something you don't mind getting dusty. Bring eye protection and respiratory protection if you have it or safety glasses will be provided.
