The last step in furniture making has been the most difficult of all. Finishing frustrates the most experienced woodworker. This four night course will take the mystery out of finishing. Topics include: sanding, surface prep, filling grain, staining, sealing, top coating, rubbing out, and wet sand polishing.

Class 1 – VCarve Software Basics Learn the fundamentals of VCarve software, including creating designs, setting up toolpaths, and preparing projects for machining on the CNC. Class 2 – Your First CNC Project Put your new skills into action by designing and machining your own custom Welcome sign while gaining confidence operating the CNC. Class 3 – Intermediate CNC Techniques Expand your CNC knowledge with advanced machining methods, including: Double-sided carving 3D carving Inlay techniques Class 4 – Double-Sided Project Workshop Bring everything you’ve learned together in a fun, hands-on project! Students will complete a double-sided CNC project and choose one of the following to create: A custom Mason jar storage lid—perfect for organizing coffee, tea, sugar, or other kitchen staples. A handcrafted Whiskey Smoker, featuring a precision-machined lid for adding rich smoke flavor to your favorite spirits. This capstone class reinforces double-sided machining, alignment techniques, and finishing methods while giving you a beautiful, functional project to take home. In this class Students learn how to transfer patterns to non flat surfaces, such as bowls, vases, gourds and more. Student will transfer pattern and burn on a gourd or bowl.
