Mastering The Hand Plane, I

Learn how to use a hand plane like a pro. In this class we will use several types of planes in their various applications. Learn the techniques to make a perfectly square board, rabbet a groove, clean a shoulder, and true up a tenon. Tool List: A Sharpened And Tuned-up Bench Plane. Pre-Requisites: Sharpening Chisels And Planes Recommended. Tuition Notes: No refunds for cancellations less than 7 days prior to class. Reschedules only.

Beginning Finishing

Frustrated by wood finishing? Need to improve your finishing skills? In this class we will cover the basics of surface preparation, and application of sealers and topcoats. Each student will prepare sample boards, and hand apply several home workshop friendly finishes, while learning about the process of wood finishing. This class is also the pre-requisite for other classes in wood finishing.

Cabinet Building

Part 1: Saturday, August 1, 2026, 10 AM - 3 PM

Part 2: Sunday, August 2, 2026, 10 AM - 3 PM

Each participant will construct their own modular base cabinet, based on the 32 mm system. The process will include making the carcass shell, flat panel door and pull-out drawer. Skills will include edge banding, pocket hole joinery, mounting Euro hinges and drawer slides. We will also discuss using face frames, and other ways of embellishing your cabinetry, while working within the 32mm system. You will advance your skills in the table saw, track saw, miter saw, router, measuring & marking as well as pocket hole joinery.
