Build A Side Chair

Part 1: Friday, July 10, 2026, 9 AM - 4 PM

Part 3: Sunday, July 12, 2026, 9 AM - 4 PM

Join us for a 3 day class where students will build their own vernacular side chair. This chair is based off of the Leitrim chair, an Irish folk chair popularized by John Surlis. These chairs are incredibly comfortable and uniquely beautiful. Since they are hand made, each chair will be slightly different, showing clear evidence of the human hand at work. During this course, students will use a variety of hand tools to make, shape and assemble their chairs. All tools will be provided, but feel free to bring any that you have.

Wood Turning 101

Saturday, July 18, 2026, 9 AM - 4 PM

This class is designed to enhance your turning and tool sharpening skills. Topics include an overview of the lathe, types of tools, sharpening and forming a proper bead and cove. You will leave with a few small finished projects.

Turn A Platter

Saturday, August 8, 2026, 9 AM - 4 PM

Learn to turn a beautiful 10" wooden platter! This platter would look great displayed on a shelf, or used as a charcuterie platter. The following tools are required for this class: Face shield/ safety glasses, dust mask/ respirator, ruler, pencil, 1/2" fingernail bowl gouge, 1" round nose scraper, 3/8" fingernail spindle gouge, 3/16" parting tool, 1/16" parting tool, 1/4" beading tool (optional)
