Keepsake Box Making for Beginners

Box making is a timeless craft – its simple shape is both versatile and useful. In this hands-on class, you’ll build a mitered-corner box using basic shop tools, then create a “spline jig” to reinforce the corners with contrasting wood keys. These add strength and visual flair. As artisan woodworker Craig Gilbert guides you through this process, he’ll also share additional creative ways to personalize your box and make it distinctly your own. If time allows, you’ll also explore finishing techniques with a take-home product. At the end of the class, you’ll have a box you’ll be proud to show off—and a tool you’ll use again and again to add flair and style to your future work. Note: a $25 materials fee (cash or Square) will be collected by the instructor at time of the class.

Women's Intro to Woodworking

Are you interested in woodworking? This one-day, hands-on class is perfect for beginners who want to explore the art and skill of woodworking. Learn how to safely use power tools like the planer, bandsaw, table saw, miter saw, and drill press. You’ll put your new skills into practice by building a beautiful keepsake box! Build confidence and gain foundational knowledge to tackle woodworking projects independently in the future. Note: $20 materials fee (cash or Venmo) is payable to the instructor at the start of the class.

Chip Carving for Beginners

Sunday, March 8, 2026, 10 AM - 4 PM

Ready to take your woodworking projects to the next level? Enhance them with chip carving! This fun technique is all about using simple triangular or curved cuts to create mesmerizing geometric designs, or even cool lettering and images. Your instructor, Bart Dunning, will guide you through everything including caring for and handling your knife, drawing patterns and making those key cuts, developing a "feel" for the wood, and learning how to fix little mistakes. You'll leave with new skills, maybe some new carving friends, and hopefully a carved coaster to show off! A loaner carving tool will be provided. Note: A $5 materials fee is payable to the instructor on the day of the class.
